Originally written in April 2004 upon the creation of Seeds for Change Consulting, LLC, the following paragraph describes the overriding philosophy of our firm since its inception:
“Our goals include bringing affordable, viable solutions to non-profit organizations so
they may better fulfill their missions of serving our communities. We respect the work
and dedication of every non-profit staff member, board member and volunteer, aiming
to make their work more efficient and effective. We enter every relationship
with a focus on transparency of information, sustainability of program, and the creation
of mutually beneficial partnerships.”
AFFORDABLE, VIABLE SOLUTIONS: The professional staff of Seeds for Change is dedicated to staying affordable to the small and medium sized non-profits in Central Texas and around the country. We consciously maintain low overhead and work closely with our clients to maximize our efforts while constantly finding ways to save them money. We love to brainstorm ideas and innovations but always return to the question of viability; it is critical to us that our work creates viable, workable and sustainable solutions.
FULFILLED MISSIONS: We are very aware that each non-profit brings its own blend of strengths and weaknesses, level of organizational maturity, and needs and wants. By customizing our consulting to specifically meet each organization as its own unique entity, we can readily help the organization be the best it can be. This outward, altruistic approach allows us to stay focused on the good work of the organization. Most of the Seeds for Change partners have worked for non-profit organizations and all realize the critical role they play in shaping our communities, culture and futures. We also realize that the services we provide are critical to the overall sustainability of organizations, these tasks will always play a secondary role to the execution of the organizations’ programmatic missions… a necessary means to a productive end.
RESPECT THE WORK AND DEDICATION: Again, as former non-profit employees we are keenly aware of the often insurmountable work facing our clients. There is always more work to be done. We feel strongly that our role as consultants should be to lighten the load, maximize effectiveness, seek out efficiencies, and create a healthy work environment.
TRANSPARENCY, SUSTAINABILITY, PARTNERSHIP: We rely on transparency of information to assist in the education process. By clearly showing HOW we do our work and not just showing results, we provide the road map to our clients so they may learn how to do what we do. This creates an environment of sustainability. And although we consider ourselves partners with our clients, it truly is our greatest moment of success when a client takes what we have done for them and repeats it on their own. Much like the momma bird pushing her babies out of the nest to fly: this is our ultimate goal.
On the surface, it is extremely simplistic: our goal is to help non-profit organizations raise money, educate the community, and increase public awareness so they can fulfill their fundamental missions of serving our communities.
However, we are sure each and every consulting firm will readily state the above goal and feel they can truly help. We believe non -profit boards and staff are looking for more. We can provide that “more” they are not only seeking, but needing. Seeds for Change is customer focused and readily able to customize our services to minimize weaknesses and emphasize strengths. We do this by creating a strong, solid foundation of understanding, professional knowledge, and out-of-the-box creativity. We then carefully layer on top of that foundation essential skill sets, communication mechanisms, and publicity materials. We top it with hands-on training and execution. The resulting whole product is the client's to keep, use, expand, contract, and repeat. This sustainable form is key to long term success.
