Carolyn Haney, LMSW

Consultant
Carolyn comes to Seeds for Change with 14 years working in the nonprofit sector. After graduating with her LMSW from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006, she decided she wanted to work specifically in the realm of health and wellness which led her to both her work at Marathon Kids, as well as at ACTIVE Life. Throughout her time at both organizations, Carolyn focused specifically on low-income and underserved populations in Austin that didn’t have the same access to health and wellness resources that upper-income communities had.
Because of this work, and developing a more solid understanding that people who do not have access to health and wellness resources are more likely to develop obesity, diabetes, and heart disease, she started her own non-profit in 2010 called WeViva which provides free fitness and nutrition classes to people in low-income neighborhoods. In 2017, after serving as the Founder and Executive Director for 7 years, Carolyn stepped down as Executive Director and joined the Seeds for Change Team. Carolyn has extensive knowledge in health and wellness, non-profit management, board management, fundraising, and overall day-to-day operations of a non-profit.
Carolyn moved to Austin in 2004 and she enjoys staying very active, whether it is running or biking by herself around Lady Bird Lake, or chasing after her 3 little kids (and husband!) on a daily basis. In her spare time, Carolyn loves to travel, cook, and watch her kids in the various sports activities they participate in. Carolyn is also an active volunteer at her children's schools as well as local nonprofits in Austin including The Trail Foundation, Generation Serve, and Shalom Austin.
