JOANNA Wolaver

Joanna Wolaver brings 20 years of experience in nonprofit management, coalition building, stakeholder engagement, and government relations to the Seeds for Change team. Joanna is dedicated to assisting mission-driven organizations in reaching their full potential. In particular, she is passionate about supporting nonprofits during periods of startup and transition as well as the formation of public-private partnerships. She also specializes in convening diverse groups around shared interests through coalition facilitation and community engagement as well as developing strategic campaigns and creative funding solutions to advance policy goals.
Joanna has held a variety of positions at nonprofit organizations, including serving as the founding executive director of Shoal Creek Conservancy, an Austin nonprofit dedicated to improving the Shoal Creek trail and watershed. Prior to joining the Conservancy, she held positions at National Wildlife Federation and New Jersey Audubon Society, with a focus on natural resource policy and fundraising. She also served as Urban Planning Assistant to the Mayor of San Antonio. She has managed three successful open space and transportation bond campaigns in Texas and New Jersey, including the 2010 Austin Mobility Bond that funded the Boardwalk at Lady Bird Lake.
Joanna received a Master’s degree in Geography and the Environment from the University of Texas and an undergraduate degree in Urban Planning and Environmental Sciences from Bryn Mawr College. She is an Austin (almost) native, arriving at the age of five. She enjoys traveling, hiking and adventuring with her husband and very curious young son.
