Lisa hugman
Consultant
Lisa, a 25-year resident, business owner, and community activist in Austin, Texas, passionately engaged in homeless policy reform after the Austin City Council's unfortunate decision in 2019 to permit public camping.
She collaborated with Save Austin Now to support reform-minded candidates for the City Council and was appointed to the Parks and Recreation Board where she organized and chaired a homeless working group comprised of community leaders involved with addressing the problem. Lisa testified for homelessness initiatives in Texas State Senate Committees and advises government officials on addressing the homeless crisis. She has provided direct assistance in navigating the labyrinth of institutional bureaucracy along with homeless mothers with children only to be forced to ultimately partner with churches and individuals to fund accommodations.
Through these experiences, Lisa has developed a keen understanding of why government policies and programs addressing homelessness are failing, driving her mission to advocate for proven-effective solutions across all levels of government. Professionally, she co-founded System Surveyor, a successful software company. Grounded in her Christian faith, Lisa approaches life with clarity and purpose, advocating for sensible homelessness solutions with leaders at all levels of government.
