Nicole has over 20 years of combined experience in the non-profit, private, and public sectors. Experienced in program and organization development, Nicole currently works for Sustainable Food Center as the Senior Grants Analyst where she provides leadership to all aspects of the organization's grant program, including proposal development, funder prospecting and reporting, grants information management, and grant management capacity-building efforts. Previously Nicole worked at PeopleFund for 4 years where she became a passionate advocate for assisting minority and women-owned organizations. She specializes in supporting mission-driven groups focused on community development, food access equity, workforce training, homeownership, and adult education serving low-income, underserved, and displaced populations impacted by racial and economic disparities.
Nicole's public experience includes serving as a Federal Grants Analyst with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. In that role, Nicole provided oversight and management for the state of Texas of a federally funded environmental grant portfolio of over $60 million (annually). She collaborated with staff of federal, state, and local agencies and governmental entities to implement national environmental legislation and programming.
Nicole received a master of arts in developmental and adult education from Texas State University and a bachelor of arts in English from Texas A&M University. She completed 54 hours of a doctor of philosophy degree in leadership studies (Education concentration) at Dallas Baptist University. Nicole served two terms as a Commissioner on the city of Austin’s Communication Technology and Telecommunications Commission and is an ardent supporter of True Light Outreach Ministries, a community-based transitional housing program.
Upon relocating to Austin in 1996, Nicole, actively volunteered her creative skills as a sewist and costume designer with area performing arts programs, including Ministry that Matters, Prom Rack, Ballet Afrique Contemporary Dance, Leadership Enrichment Arts Program (LEAP), and numerous church arts-based groups. Nicole also served as a parent volunteer for her son’s numerous sports teams and school, including Austin Junior Volleyball and St. Andrew’s Episcopal School. A native of Fort Worth, Texas, enjoys sewing, reading, and working in the St. John Faith Community Garden.
